Our own Carl Harris, CEO of Real Comfort Systems, recently encountered a power surge in his neighborhood when a tree took out a power line, emphasized by a big flash of blue light. Of course, a power surge means that electronics that were plugged in that night were at risk of taking on damage. And, true to form, several homes discovered their heaters were out of commission once the power returned due to their electric motors taking on the full brunt of the power surge.
This incident of course prompted Carl to send the word out to remind our valued customers of the importance of surge protectors. Because, when the lights came back on, those in the neighborhood who had these handy devices installed discovered that the only thing the power surge took with it was the protectors themselves!

Maryland is definitely like a slice of paradise. It’s green and fertile and full of interesting bits of history and engaging things to do. With that said, it also has a tendency to get a little chilly.
During these next several months when most of us are more inclined to enjoy the great indoors with a blanket, comfy clothes and hot drinks, we will rely on our heaters quite a bit. However, before you settle in for the human version of hibernation, we would advise that you double-check just how well your heater will operate before you end up without warmth when you really need it the most.

Soup’s on! And in all likelihood so is your heater. There is nothing better than warming up with a hot bowl of something filling while enjoying a temperately cozy indoor environment.
It is a shame then when you can’t rely on your heater to keep operating. It may have started as a strange noise and then progressed to unreliable warmth and end in a heater that just refuses to turn on now. This is a system that is in dire need of repair and could even need replacing.
Not exactly the best way to kick off the holidays.
Thankfully, you have the ability to avoid this chilly situation by making sure that your heater is taken care of. Maintenance for your heating system is the best way to keep it running. Here’s why.
